The Alabama Shakes article

Postby Slash7 » Mon Sep 30, 2019 1:55 pm

I was reading this great SOS article from 2015
https://www.soundonsound.com/people/inside-track-alabama-shakes-sound-color

The record engineer mentions that the vocalist had recorded some of the tracks with an NS10 woofer in front of her, singing right into it...
Does anyone know what does that mean? Do they put the microphone in the woofer or...?

Wire the woofer to work as the microphone is my guess. In he same way that a ns10 woofer is sometimes used to record kick drum.
