I love Black Friday...

Postby Mike Senior » Fri Nov 29, 2019 7:45 am

...because I get spam from all those mailing lists I've inadvertently been added to, and can then unsubscribe/block them all in one big batch!

I think I might start calling it Blacklist Friday...

Blacklist Friday!

I love it. After reading this I jumped on my email app and “black listed” 20~30 companies who are always sending me unbelievable, gone w hen they are gone, lowest price today, etc.

Maybe I will have a retirement after all, considering the deep discount of not buying.

On the other hand, I picked up Sonarworks Reference 4, withe the measurement mic for £135, which seemed like a genuine bargain.

Maybe I'm just gullible.I decided to buy the Waves Diamond bundle at £250, which seemed good value, along with two free plugins. I chose Abbey Road Chambers and CLA Mix. I just have to learn how to use them all - or at least which ones will be the most useful.

In my opinion I think it may have been a little excessive to buy those items for that amount and then learn how to use them but I suppose it is personal preference so yeah. But that price does sound like it was a bargain!

I'm thinking of adopting Mike Senior's approach as well, having been inundated with bargain basement software sales emails for weeks now on a daily basis.

The saddest thing is that even at 95% off normal price, I'm still not convinced that most of these plug-ins/sample libraries will end up being regularly useful.

I think I've got all I need, and ironically get more excited when I decide to delete one of my existing ones because it's just not used - the shorter the list, the more streamlined the mix decision.

I took the opportunity for a pair of Royer R-10's at a discount. Would've have bought them anyway but it's fun to see retailers wind themselves up.

Take my advice, I'm not using it.

I'm not sure I quite understand that concept.

And I have also had a very therapeutic "blacklisting / blocking" weekend thanks to Mike's idea!

Love the Sabbath cover!

What I really hate about marketing emails is when they bombard you with deals for the stuff I've already bought. Buying a Raspberry Pi from Amazon has triggered loads of emails for buying a Raspberry Pi from Amazon - I have one now, for crying out loud! :headbang:

Brought my Gran a new microwave as an early Christmas present, she has never liked how large the current one we brought her was and JL had a small Panasonic for £49.
Also got the OMD live bundle consisting of the concert at the Liverpool empire on 2 CD's and the concert at the Hammersmith Apollo on 2 CD's and 3 LP's, all for £65, plus due to the physical release not being till 2020 I got the download version on offer for £15!

So all in all some good deals.

Famous last words! :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

As of today I'm now looking to replace my 8-in/8-out audio interface smartish, hopefully with a huge Black Friday discount, as my existing one has just thrown a terminal wobbly :(

Any suggestions gratefully received in this thread ;)

I've been very happy with my Maudio M-Track Eight. It's USB2 and runs at up to 96kHz / 24bit . Dunno if that would meet your needs.

About 300 squids.
