Purchase Plugin deals ending 31/3/20??

Postby dw14 » Sat Mar 28, 2020 2:36 am

Hi all,

Just setting up my tiny back bedroom studio for recording my own music at first. It's 3 metres x 2 metres dimensions...tiny!
Have a Focusrite 4i4 3rd Edition and the licensed version of Reaper 6. Just getting to know both of them. Focusrite do their Plugin Collective stuff.
Looking at mostly Metal music but going to have a go at incorporating heavy synth/samples into some songs, think The Prodigy style. Also maybe some quieter ballad stuff.

There are plugin deals ending on the 31st March which I'm interested in:
Focusrite gave away NUGEN Audio Monofilter Elements and $100 credit to use on any purchase over $100.
Seen the Nugen Focus Bundle and I can get that for £78. Should I get it even if its more for future use?

Then there's Izotope Ozone. Focusrite gave away Ozone 8 Elements which is nice. With crossgrade deal and Izotop extra 5% off I can get the Tonal Balance Bundle Crossgrade for £157. That includes:
Neutron 3 Advanced
Nectar 3
Celemony Melodyne 4 Essential
RX 7 Breath Control
Ozone 9 Advanced

Are these very good deals that I don't want to miss?

Many thanks

If you're new to all this, just learn the plugins that come with Reaper until you know them inside out. You may find they are all you ever need.

The basic focusrite bundled stuff is quite useable as well. So i'd definitely concentrate on learning what you've got and only buy something when there's something you can't do.
Even then, there's a lot of good free-ware out there.
It's very easy to spend too much time choosing between 6 different compressors or eqs when they can all do the same job and no-one but you will ever know which one you used.
:)

P.s. I'm not knocking any of the ones you've listed by the way, just suggesting that buying on a 'needs' basis can make things cheaper and easier in the long run.

And there are always deals on plugins. Never buy at full-price!

And what about those?
Can you point out any real deal?

Only Izotope's plugin I own and use is RX elements, so they're sending deals.

It's the Tonal Balance Bundle Loyalty Offer I was looking at for $199. UK price is good and they were giving me an extra 5% off cause I left it in my basket.

Just wondered if that is a good deal or not? What's the 'normal' price for it?
Are Izoptope sales fairly regular anyway? Less price than the Loyalty price?

As I'm concentrating on Metal music, is the Izotoe bundle going to be less useful than stock plugins anyway?

Thanks

The thing is, these are only useful (and therefore only good value) if you're going to use them.
And only you can answer that I'm afraid.
$200 gets you a pretty nice microphone, or a couple of sets of decent headphones, or a chunk of room treatment, or is a good start to a decent set of monitors.
All of which would be higher up my priority list personally.

Yep, all good points.
I've got the Focusrite 4i4 and a pair of Presonus Eris 5 XT's.
I think I'll use the cheap deal/free or stock plugins and ignore others just now.
Use the money for room treatment etc.

Many thanks to all who replied as well. You've all been very helpful

It's been taken out my hands now anyway.
Izotope say that I can't get the Loyalty Offer as my Ozone 8 Elements doesn't count as a paid for version. The offers I have are triggered when you register the Focusrite free plugins but are not valid for me.

Decision made

Deus Ex Machina!
You'll be fine with the stock ones for 99% of use cases, and if you do find that there's something specific you need to do which isn't covered, then you'll know exactly what you're looking for.
