Ozone 8: best state of a mix to send to the mastering asisstant etc

Postby hooty2 » Thu Oct 15, 2020 3:38 pm

Hi,
it may be blindingly obvious....however, i often mix into my master track with final plugins on the master track.

Before sending my stereo track to Ozone 8, (Master assisstant) i'm tempted to follow this practice to get the sound and levels 'I' like...but then bypass them (in effect my mastering plugins) before sending to O8 to see what Izotope come up with!
does this make sense?
am i A*** about Face?

humbly yours

If you're already getting the sound you like with your mastering plugins, why are you bothering with Ozone 8?

I'd normally say remove the final limiter (which presumably is just being used to push the overall level up) but leave any other processing.

The idea is to create the best mix you can before mastering and, if you need to do master bus processing to create that mix, then that's all part of mixing in my book.
