I think this is from Andrew Scheps isn't it? Send everything bar the drums to the rear bus and then compress it with a fast attack and then blend that into the rest of the mix. Just tried it and it works a treat! I noticed that if you want your kick and snare to really break through a mix without turning it all up you can send them to a bus and boost the highs and lows, compress the hell out of that and then blend it into taste.
