If Krackle Killers takes off (and despite a few mixed comments on this thread I'm pretty sure the majority here think it a great idea), it might be worth making a version to clean the contacts inside mains distribution boards.

When they are unplugged of course!

While the jack cleaners look a good idea and I could use something similar for phono sockets right now, I don't think I've ever come across an intermittent distribution board that wasn't at the end of its life. Usually the contacts lose their springiness rather than tarnishing.

This explains why the code is no longer working.

Hi Brian, if you check my original post above, I said when announcing the discount that "The discount offer runs until the 19th of February, 2020."

Today is the 21st. Therefore the offer expired two days ago.

I see from my orders that you ordered two packets six hours ago.

If you'd like, I'll cancel your current order. For your sake, I've extended the discount offer (using the same coupon code - 9S5HV3B8) to end on the 31st of March. Then you can re-order and get the discount. Let me know if you want to do this.

On a related subject, the shipments come via a fulfilment house in Shenzhen, China. As I'm sure you know from the news, all sorts of shipments from China are disrupted at the moment due to government policies during the Coronavirus epidemic in Hubei.

I've been told that my particular shipper is in the "wrong" part of Shenzhen (businesses are now open in every other part of the city except for the districts near the airport), so they're not allowed to reopen their facility yet. Therefore, there'll be a slight delay before they start shipping back orders.

Thanks very much for your interest in Krackle Killers.

Astonishingly, two packs of Krackle Killers arrived today! I can only assume they got held up in the international mailing chaos associated with the global Covid pandemic.

Anyway, I'll go in the hunt for some less than perfect sockets and have a go at cleaning them...

Glad they finally got to you, Hugh. As I’m sure you guessed, the little old pandemic put a massive spanner into the works of getting sample stock shipped. The (privatised) post office here in Australia decided to put an excruciating surcharge on top of the normal shipping charges during COVID.

The words despicable profiteering came to mind. Fortunately my shipper in China finally came back on line - at one point they were playing no speaks months after things were supposedly back to normal at their end.

I look forward to your thoughts on the plugs.

Regards,
David

I've also decided to give these a chance. TBH the Toadstool is 100% crackle-free (I seem to be very fortunate like that), but others I work with are not!

Thanks very much for your very kind and thorough review, Hugh.

If anyone's missed it / is interested, It's here: https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/krackle-killers .

Also, thanks to The Elf for his interest and order. I hope they've proved to be useful to you.

Once again, thanks for everyone's patience if they've ordered and had delays in receiving their Krackle Killers.

Like many other folks, we've found shipping to be rather messed up during the pandemic, but it seems our shipper's back on the ball now. Definitely hasn't hurt that they've swapped us over to what seems a much more responsive rep for passing on our orders.

Regards,
David

They are on standby for when they're needed. A simple idea, but nicely made, and will be crucial when they're needed.
