"30 GB free disk space (1150 GB for complete installation)"
"Total download size 790 GB."
"Required hard disk space depends on how many products/libraries you want to install. To install all products and libraries, 1150 GB free disk space is required."

That should be fun, I’ve got Komplete Ultimate, it took 8 hours to install on my i Mac, a lot of it I didn’t use, so I was very selective when I had to reinstall it later.

Don't NI sell the full monty version on an SSD, like Spitfire Audio do with their large orchestral libraries? I always thought it best to keep sample libraries off your main program drive?

Yes, there is a boxed version that comes on a drive (but not an SSD I don't think).

"Boxed version includes HDD drive, USB cable and USB-C adapter."

So long as it's a 7200rpm HD drive, then it'll still be useful.

It’s big, but the key thing is there’s no point installing all of it. Select what you want to use and it’s a lot easier to manage. You might not need Gamelan, or compressors, or whatnot.

You have to click on ‘buy’ and it shows you on that page. Ultimate collector’s edition is 1150 GB, the next one down is 800 GB.

It's all on the Specifications page I linked to above, which is one of the pages off the main marketing page.

You can install each product individually so you aren't forced to install it all in one go.
Even if you have the HDD version you can still install online using Native Access.
That way you will get the latest versions automatically, otherwise you will still need to use Native Access for updates.

Forum Admin wrote:Don't NI sell the full monty version on an SSD, like Spitfire Audio do with their large orchestral libraries? I always thought it best to keep sample libraries off your main program drive?

The largest version uses a 1TB HDD which is why they don't use SSDs.
They sell the Updates/Upgrades half price once a year or so meaning that for £250 you would get a ~£100 SSD included.
The only ones that comes on a flash stick is the entry level Select version.

You still have to install the libraries and anything else to another drive as the included HDD contains installation files, so you can't just copy them across.
You can repurpose the drive after though:
Reformat/Delete the files on the drive.
Move the libraries to the external drive.
Use Native Access to tell the system the new locations which can be time consuming if you have moved a lot of them; no bulk method to reassign the locations I think!
Not that I'd recommend running large sample libraries from what may well be a 5,400rpm HDD.
I imagine you only suggested it because you thought it was an SSD.

Me neither.

I didn't suggest it, I said it'd be OK if it is a 7200rpm HDD:

"If you buy Komplete 12 in September you get a free upgrade to Komplete 13. Komplete 12 is half price still at a few retailers."

The half price is is seemingly for boxed versions of Updates/Upgrades only and in the UK and some other European countries.
Just register it before the end of this month and NI will add a free Update to 13 at the start of October.

Do you know if the cello in the cremona quartet can be played separately?

And Why are They only including the violin In Komplete ultimate? And not the rest of the quartet?

Thank you

Of course. They are four completely separate instruments. Use whichever ones you want.

mountain lion wrote:And Why are They only including the violin In Komplete ultimate? And not the rest of the quartet?

Commercial reasons I expect. They often don't bundle their newest instruments into the Komplete bundle until next time around. There's only so much new stuff they can give away for free, I guess (which is effectively what they would be doing by bundling this into Komplete this time around.)
