Is there a comprehensive list of labels anywhere?

Postby Guest » Mon Dec 04, 2017 7:30 pm

Just wondering if there's a list of UK record labels anywhere to make sending off demos a bit easier, I'm assuming if I'm UK based I'd be better off hitting up UK labels?

Thanks in advance

Discogs is probably your best bet these days. Find artists you like and then the label they are on.

There used to be the Musicians and Songwriters' yearbook but it doesn't look like it's been published since 2008?

Back when I was running a commercial studio we had the Showcase Directory (which is still published apparently) and the Music Week Directory. I seem to remember Music Week being more useful as it listed the names of all the A&R people. However, in the case of one release we did, a press release sent to Music Week and featured in their news section produced more response than sending out 100 CD's.

Long time ago now (over a decade, when it was a thick annual paperback directory...), but I used to use The Unsigned Guide, which seems to have evolved into an online subscription thing.
