Instrument insurance

There's been some posts on this a few years back, but just wondering about any current recommendations for getting insurance cover for instruments...?

I've been insuring my instruments/gear (home studio use only) with Hencilla Canworth for quite a few years, and this year they have launched a new service:

"Showtime Performing Arts Insurance is a bespoke insurance policy designed with the practitioners of the performance arts in mind. The policy has been created by industry specialist brokers, Hencilla Canworth, in conjunction with Hiscox Insurance."

Hencilla have always been very helpful, but I've never had to make a claim, so I can't comment on that side.

The problem with musical insurance is that it's pretty expensive for the cover you get. Martin could probably now have bought twice the number of instruments he currently owns if he hadn't had it.

But if you do need it, it had better pay out properly.

I have had good luck with regular business insurance from the big insurance companies. Certain ones will ask for serial numbers etc for gear over a certain amount which is a hassle to get together and hard to explain for pieces of gear without serial numbers but I would start there and see what they say.
