Contacting an artists management

Postby mickeyderon » Fri May 03, 2019 8:56 am

Hi everyone

I have a remix mixed and mastered for an artists management. The managements roster seems to fairly small but has a couple of fairly well known artists on there.

What are you do's and don't about contacting them via email ?

Would it be better to name drop and explain a bit of my musical background, to ask them to listen to my remix or to avoid those things ?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated as soon as possible.

Cheers

What are you hoping to do with that remix?

I mean, you can't do anything whatsoever with that remix without the written permission of the artist and if he/she wanted a remix, they would have commissioned one!

If it were me, I would simply get on the blower and say "Hey! I've done a remix of Raving Jim Grunt's hit from 1978 'Only the Spotty!' D'you wanna hear it? It's just for fun!"

They'll then be polite and say "Go on! Send it over!" and if it is the best thing since 'The Laughing Policeman' they'll send it to the artist.

If it's just another average remix, they'll file-13 it!

Id like them to release it ideally but you've given me an idea of what to do. Thank you.
