I have a classical cello album I want to upload to a distributor. I want to sell hard CD copies - is CDbaby a good one to do that?

If not, could you recommend a better site?

Thanks in advance...

Apologies if I'm saying stuff you're aware of...

If the music on the CD (or any form of distribution medium) is not all original compositions by yourself, you need to get copyright clearance via a licence. Have you factored that into your costing model?

Note that CD Baby recently closed their retail store and no longer distribute physical CDs directly, though they still supply Amazon etc.

No; if you're sure it's out of copyright then you're OK

I quite like CDBaby as a distributor - especially if you're doing full length albums (the pricing isn't so good for EPs unfortunately) - but as BJG says above, they're no longer doing CD distribution.

Do you actually have CD copies pressed ready to sell or are you looking for a distributor to do PoD?

Thanks BJG145, I didn't realise CDBaby had closed their store!

CDBaby are based anyhow in the USA, so if you are interested in selling in UK/Europe it makes little sense. You can just sell the CD on Amazon/EBay etc yourself directly. I would still use CDBaby for the digital distribution though, they have a nice friendly site for that.

Bandcamp is one of the places online where you might offer such a CD. You will have to do the packaging and postage yourself.

Best,
Mike
