So they just want to sing over your track?
Personally I'd just take the complement but it does seem a little unusual.
But i'm not down with the kids...

Yeah.

I know people sell (mostly shite) beats nowadays but this is a full original song recorded by professional musicians.

It's not that "weird" or unusual these days. Particularly if, as you say, it is a high quality production. A non exclusive license (from you) to use the recording will likely cost the artist less than creating their own version from scratch. Note, there are 2 copyrights at play here.

1. Mechanical royalties for the copies of the song.

2. A License to use the Backing track recording.

Thanks Phil. I've directed her to my collection agency for a license and given her permission contingent on my producing. Let's see what happens.
