What would be nice as a workaround while we wait for a fix is to figure what it is about the audio files that's causing Logic to interpret them differently - if it's something simple, then a temporary solution would be to convert the audio files to a "correct" format, so Logic can now load them properly...

Hmmm. It must be 10 years since I last used a hex editor. What's a good one to use, or is there one hidden in macOS already? xxd just does a hex dump, I think.

OK I've found iHex on the app store.

Just under 2 months now. Still marked as "Open". ;)

10.4.5 fix:

"Logic now correctly plays back all channels of third party ambisonic audio files."

Excellent. I've been in hospital for a day or so (don't ask) and hadn't checked this yet. My bug report is still marked as "Open" :)

Glad my article managed to get out ahead of the fix. My workaround still stands for anyone who can't go to 10.4.5, though.

Mind you my bug report was entitled "Third party ambisonic files loaded into Logic 10.4.4 will not play back correctly" and this is so much like the description of the fix that I reckon my report did trigger the fix. (smiles gently and takes a light bow)

PS [facepalm] Bug Reporter has now been renamed Feedback Assistant. [/facepalm]

PPS the fix works. It's all as it should be.
