Just run a test on this one and I was able to install (ok .. a little grumbling about certificates, but basically nothing went wrong) the last version of the Focusrite installer for my 'small' interface, so I'm guessing that it should all be happy. As I said, I'm running a backup anyway in case it all goes wahoonie shaped.

And the bit about zooming with a region selected. Hmmm... that may be some of the issue - will have a look at that. Thanks chaps.

I don't see why the various catch mode options would have any affect on this.
I didn’t (and don’t currently have Logic open) when I answered your query but I think that if the playhead is anywhere but dead centre of the arrangement when you zoom in it will zoom in to the centre of the arrangement, not where you want it to go i.e. the playhead position.

Hmm, not here it doesn't, at least in 10.4.4 - I described the behaviour of LPX above...

Mojave update done. Currently updating Logic.

As regards my other query, I think I understand what's happening. If a region is selected when zooming in, then the zoom in seems to lock onto the very start of the region and expand from there. I sometimes do a fair amount of fine editing on long regions, so I cut them to move bits and I think that I'm leaving something selected which is causing me headaches. At least I now know!

Logic installed. Let's give it a whirl... all seems to be running fine. But my projects aren't heavy - just a bunch of long files. Ho hum

Yep. There are plenty of other tools and key commands for zooming too, maybe explore some of them and see whether they work for you as well...

For me, Logic always horizontally zooms on the playhead if it's in the visible window.

Not true for me. If you have more than one regions on the track you have to select the SPECIFIC region, or have NO regions selected, otherwise you get the behaviour Dave B is commenting about. In other words, don't select the whole track, ie all regions, from the track header, just select the region that you want to zoom in on, or select nothing at all! Odd but true.
