Rather alarmingly, my iMac’s screen decided to fail today it seems. Could this be the “The Dark Side Screen Problem”? https://gerrysweeney.com/apple-imac-27- ... not-admit/
And if so, how will I know (since the screen isn’t working :headbang: ) The iMac is about 4 years old.
Everything’s backed up though, thank goodness...

Re: iMac screen failure
You can always try plugging a second screen into the iMac. That will allow you to try a few diagnostics and also back up your data (which you've already done but you can check round anyway). Otherwise I haven't the foggiest what the problem might be. When the screen on my iMac failed it was the video card that had gone.

Re: iMac screen failure
Thank you fellas.
Its all sorted now, it was actually a problem with the cable connecting my keyboard would you believe. I had unplugged everything else from round the back. I have no idea why a bad cable could create the impression that the entire display had gone belly-up, but there you go.

Sigh of relief on your behalf. When the screen goes on an iMac it's a pain, no argument.
