Midiplus driver question for Mac OS

Postby ErwinVervacke » Sat Mar 21, 2020 8:32 pm

Hi all,
The last time I used a keyboard on my Mac was 2010. The keyboard wasn't my main device so it was a cheap Midiplus 25 Origin. It worked so I was happy.

Fast forward 10 years and I have a 5-year-old daughter who is fond of playing the Garageband Grand Piano on the iPad. I would like her to use the keyboard on my newer MacBook Pro but the Mac driver on the Midiplus web site doesn't install on Catalina.
I'm connecting via USB (using DC power for now)

What can I do now? I will not buy a new keyboard so how can I get this to work (or not)? Would there be a brand-neutral-all-purpose-midi-drver I can download/use?

Open the Audio Midi Setup Utility, ( utilities folder )

connect via USB, or Midi cable.
Check to see if the keyboard is detected, select it.

If that doesn't work, ????? Contact the manufacturer to see if the plan driver updates ( it's an old model, is it still in production? )

Most likely the installer is a 32 bit app and will not work with Catalina.

I've never needed a driver for the controllers I've owned, however I did have to get a cheap USB MIDI interface to work with my Yamaha piano, an IK iRig MIDI 2.

no drivers required.
