Hello everybody

I’ using normally my zoom h6 as a 4 entry recorder
I m actually stuck in Sri Lanka for at least a month
And I want to record some video where I m singing and play guitar , using the h6 for the sound
I don’t have any computer or other material here
The non-essential shop are closed
So I have to do which what I have here

I ve tried this:

I have a female/female USB adapter so I plugged the mini usb on the zoom then the adapter then the original usb/lightening cable to my iPhone
I went in the menu select usb interface/ iPad and put the monitor on
But nothing
Did I forgot something?
Thanks for your answer
It will be helpful
Cheers

Have you got AUM or another DAW that allows you to select audio inputs?

You need to be running a DAW app.

I think you need the camera connection kit? Maybe it's possible to buy one also in Sri Lanka?

An alternative would be to record separately video and audio and then rejoining on a phone video editing app, but you need someway to get the sound out of the Zoom after recorded and without a computer I guess that's tricky.

Another way is to use a DSLR camera which have both a line input and a wireless control from the phone (for example, my Panasonic Lumix cameras can). The DLSR would record the video using the audio from the zoom, and the you can move the video from the camera to the phone wirelessly via the app - and edit on the iPad..

Yes, the iPhone and the Zoom are both 'slave' devices, the camera kit allows the iPhone to work as a 'host'. Simply using a F-F USB connector will not work.

Yes, that's the cable. That vid covers all the detail, if you just follow those instructions you should be fine. I assume you are recording video on the iPhone? If so you don't need a DAW.

I'd get one of the connectors with a lightning power inlet as well.

And get a genuine Apple one - the others rarely work properly.

You will need a DAW to multi-track.

You can also just simply use a TRRS aux cable (basically just the 3.5mm cable that you use to connect mobiles to speakers etc. only make sure that the connecter pin has 3 black rings. And not 2. Only then will it be able to give sound input into your phone).

Plug one end of the cable into the headphone output on the H6 and the other into the 3.5mm input of your phone. In case your phone doesn't have the 3.5mm input jack, you'll need that adapter - which is easy enough to get.

This method will essentially make your phone treat the h6 as a plugged in microphone and record the audio signal coming in through the cable.

Not on an iPhone 11, iPhones since iPhone 7 have not had a 3.5mm socket. Whether the adaptor has good A/D is not something I have investigated but the mic inputs on phones, tablets and laptops is usually pretty poor.
