(but ffs don't put any personal or "dodgy" data on it!)

Ok, I'll try to remember not to leave my selfies on it so!

Cool, I'll take your advice then. If they have any problems I can blame you.

Strangely there is no mention of any IBM Lenovo Thinkpad model on that website you just mentioned. I know that the advice I got from this SOS forum to buy a Thinkpad, was the main thing that solved all my problems and I am not exaggerating. That was four years ago and it is still a complete joy to use.

It's about 7/8 years since I got my Windows 7 laptop for audio work from scan.co.uk. It's been a brilliant machine, but sadly seems to be coming to the end of its days.

I was half-considering switching to Mac, but I'm thinking one can probably still get more power for the money with a well put together Windows machine.

As it's been years since I've looked at this area, are there more companies out there now that build laptops for audio work? What should I be looking for these days? What processors are decent?

I use REAPER, Cubase, Live, Max/MSP, Soundforge etc.

Thanks for reading,

C

Why do you say that? What's happening? When was the last time the dust was removed, components/ cables re-seated and/or a fresh OS install?

I use them for sound design, film scoring, ads, documentaries, spoken word, audio book editing, location sound, gigging, art installations, remixing, theatre sound. And I send the odd email.

Well the last time dust was removed was last year. It didn't make much of a difference tbh. I've never reseated the components or cables, but have given in a fresh os install, which was a bit of a nightmare.
