DPC Latency with WiFi on

Postby twotoedsloth » Tue May 17, 2011 10:07 pm

Hello kind folks,

I just got a new Lenovo X200 and I was setting it up as a recording computer. So after all of the installs, I checked it for DPC latency. With WiFi off, the latency is around 135/140 while running Soundforge or Vegas. However with WiFI on, the DPC latency jumps to over 1000, hovering around 1051.

Obviously, this means I better keep the WiFi off while recording, but the question is why does the WiFi cause such havoc to my system?

Wifi does a lot of checks in the background, signals, finding networks, all this polling causes these DPC spikes so as you have found disable when recording.
