All the audio tips and tricks i've read, including the SOS guides insist on the principle that increasing latency reduces CPU load!

Well you get less context switches (And associated TLB and cache activity) because the interrupt handler is run less often and the overhead becomes a smaller part of the total processing time but the effect is usually small unless you are trying to run at very, very low latencies.

The difference between running at say 16 frames/interrupt and 32 frames/interrupt might be marginally meaningful, the difference between 1024 and 2048 rather less so.
