Came here to see if there were any other good companies for audio PCs these days beside Scan (not that I've ever had a problem with Scan).

...Think I'll stick with Scan. :)

My Scan PC arrived 8 days ago. I went for an off the shelf model (but optimised for music). I have to say that I'm very happy and it's highlighted just hoe temperamental my old, high street, machine was.

There's a couple who are able to get you though it, but if not they'll hunt me down and transfer the call I'm sure.

I bit the bullet and ordered a new PC from Scan.
Just like the one I got from them in 2007, their 'five working days' mysteriously turns into a delivery date three weeks away when the order is processed  Oh well, plus ça change -
but I'm sure it will be an excellent PC when it gets here. :headbang:

Thanks for all your advice, folks. I'm now the proud owner of a new Scan laptop that arrived yesterday!

At one point I was contemplating a desktop, emailed Scan for advice and the famous Pete got back saying there were known difficulties using my audio interface (Zoom UAC-8) with the processor I was looking at (AMD Ryzen). Can't beat advice like that. Had I not asked, and gone for a desktop, that could have been a tough problem to identify, not to mention remedy.

The laptop is knockout and I'm feeling creatively inspired :)

I too am enjoying a nice new laptop from Scan - had a little difficulty getting hold of it for various reasons (QA wouldn't let the original out the door because of severe screen light bleed, so they had to rebuild it in a different chassis), but I'm happy with it now I've got it :D

Argh ... Mine's going back today for an inspection due to intermittent noisy fan, driving me crazy. To be fair they did everything they could to avoid it having to be returned, including me sending videos of it in action. Anyhow, here's hoping this time next week ('3-5 day SLA'), I'll be posting something really positive.

I’ve always used Power C in Watford...

https://www.powerc.com/

Always had great service, I’ve had one issue in 15 years of dealing with them, and they put it right straight away. They aren’t a music focused company, but they use good quality components, and customer service is brilliant. They’ll talk you through a build, and they are quick too, no messing.

Laptop came back yesterday fixed and running really well. Good service. Collected, fixed and tested, and returned around my schedule. Now I'm just looking forward to the new projects.
