Firewire x64 driver needed.

Postby FSamuel100 » Wed Nov 13, 2019 2:08 pm

Hi,
I've just upgraded to windows 10 64 bit and consequently need an x64 driver for my FA-101 firewire interface. I understand what I need is a legacy windows 8 driver, all the blogs/forums point to a Microsoft help solution for the download but all I get is an error page when I attempt to download so it seems it has been deleted. can anyone help please

Are you taking Firewire chip support, or the actual Edirol driver for the unit? You seem to be confusing the two. The latter can be found on the Roland website. https://www.roland.com/uk/support/by_pr ... 89fff744d/

No guarantees that it will work with Win 10 though. My Win 10 machine loaded Firewire chipset drivers automatically, and they work fine (at least with my particular FW800 TI card) so I haven't had to mess about with legacy drivers.

In Win7 there was an option to use a 'legacy' firewire driver, but Microsoft removed it in Win8....WIn10 but you can still download it....

It would be nice to have a driver for my AudioFire 4 but perhaps I should upgrade when I get the next PC.

Seems the better option to me. There are so many top quality and relatively inexpensive interfaces about these days might as well bring everything up to date. I tried to hang on to some older hardware and went through convoluted configging, patching etc etc it wasn't worth the effort

Is it a 2 port FW400 card, or a 3 port FW400/FW800 card?
