New Cubase user setup

Postby punkyfish » Fri Sep 04, 2020 7:54 am

Hi, this is my PC https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/Punkyfish/saved/xWMzYJ, am looking to buy Cubase artist pro education 10.5 as a surprise for other half, do I need to add anything to the PC? Is there an optimum way of setting Cubase Up on different drives and does anyone know the difference between the education and normal version please?
Any help gratefully appreciated!

That link is private to you; others can't see it. You'll generally want an audio interface, though you might be able to get away without one depending on what you're planning to use it for. (You'll likely run into problems with latency unless you use either an audio interface or ASIO4ALL.)

Educational versions typically come with the restriction that you have to be in education to qualify and they can't be used for commercial work...see here. There's a tutorial on installation drives here; the choice of drive for the software and libraries depends what size/types of drive you have (eg SATA/SSD).

Might be best to keep this discussion in one thead here.
