Hmmm. Two problems with Bluetooth - latency and sound quality.
If you're getting your sounds directly from the kit the latency will be fine but it would require your BT transmitter to have a headphone socket as well, or to use a splitter. Sound quality might be a different kettle of fish though.

As Drew says, you'll have issues with latency and sound quality. Bluetooth uses data compression so you'll be doing the equivalent of encoding your drums to mp3 and back again every time you use them.

The simplest solution is to replace your audio interface with something appropriate for the job.

Sound quality shouldn't matter for me in the beginning I think, but the delay... you're right, the delay is terrible. I just tested with my phone and a random piano app :(

New plan then:

1. Try learning how to hold the sticks and practice some basics on the pads (they arrived today, so I can finally start yaaaaayyy)

2. If it goes well, buy a drumset and one cable for mono connection (I am sure it will take me a while to even care about mono/stereo, plus I will have stereo via the headphones)

3. If that goes well, get another interface and the second cable to get proper stereo sound, and probably with more than 2 inputs, so I have some to spare for a mic in the future, for example (or just stay with mono if I'm happy with it).

Thank you again for all suggestions! :)

A quick post mortem for people with a similar issue.

Problem: I have an instrument generating stereo output, but my audio interface only accepts one line input (or no line input).

My solution: use your computer's mic input or line input
- send headphone out from your instrument directly to your computer
- in audacity (or a DAW) set input to your pc's line in (or mic if you use that), and NOT your interface
- out should be still set to your interface ofc

...or just buy an interface with two line inputs :)

It works, with no noticeable lag and good quality.

Thanks to everyone posting in this thread :)

You'll be lucky if the latency from BT is acceptable for playing in real time.

I think the others have given you the most sensible solution. You need an interface with sufficient inputs of the correct type to do the job properly - then all these bodgy solutions will go away.

hehe, yeah. thanks anyway :)

As for the interface, I decided to keep the mackie artist after all. I only use its outputs, and for that it's good enough for me, at least for now.
