I have wondered what kind of performance I would get using Linux with a Ryzen processor for an audio workstation. I decided to find out and went for this spec :
CPU : Ryzen 3900x
Cooler : Noctua NH-D15 SE-AM4
Mobo : MSI B550 Pro
Storage : Adata 1TB Nvme M.2
Case : be quiet Silent Base 601
Power : be quiet Straight Power 11 650W
I'll install Arch Linux on that.
I intend to put something together that will boot and add components as I go along. I already have an 8GB stick of DDR4 and I will use the AMD R7 260X graphics card from this machine I'm typing on to put together enough to boot it.

Re: Linux Audio Workstation Build
Pretty good, I would expect!
I suggest AVlinux, unless you have prior experience of audio under Linux. It gives you a very complete debian-based system 'out of the box'.

Wow sounds like a really nice Idea.
I would be happy to hear if it is working out.
I wonder what DAW and interface you are using?

I see Planet CCRMA is still going. That was really good last time I did a Linux Audio system.
