I bought a non-top boost '62 when I was about 17, for £110 from a guy who played keyboards through it. The cabinet was beat-up, the original blue speakers had long gone and the vib-trem never worked. It only had one sound... but what a sound!
I sold it, but I've still got recordings of it, and it sounds... sweet. I wish I'd kept it, then I could have refurbished it at my leisure. Bit loud for playing at home though.

Re: JMI Vox AC 30
My old AC30 was bare wood. Speaker cloth in shreds. Could buzz and hum for England. But to this day its the best amp I've ever heard.
And I am too ashamed to admit just how little I let it go for when I took it to the 2nd hand shop in Notting Hill Gate in 1985..
Morbidly ashamed..
