It could also be a tap board, or a variation thereof, which was invented by Francis Dunnery.
If it is a Chapman Stick, then there's no one better at playing it than Nick Beggs.

I certainly agree with Parker Fly about Nick Beggs - I saw him play Stick alongside John Paul Jones. His brief included bass parts (when JPJ was playing keys or slide gtr),lead guitar parts (Jimmy Page solos) and midi-triggered strings during Kashmir - all with a Stick ! I have an old Stick from 1985 and use it mainly for 2-handed bass parts a la Tony Levin (Peter Gabriel. King Crimson,Pink Floyd, etc).
