Binding bending done, on to gluing. First I took a chisel to the channel previously routed roughly to size to clean it up and provide a nice close fit for the binding, test fitting a few times till I'm happy, then a couple more times till Col's happy.

Then I'm handed an impossibly long shoelace on a roll (the 'rope') with a loop at one end. Loop goes lengthways round the body, then I apply glue to a length of the channel and fit the binding, pulling the loop tight over the binding to hold it, then winding the rope round the body keeping it it tight on the binding the whole time. Col helps by applying glue so I can concentrate on keeping the rope taught, and someone else stops the free end of the rope turning into spaghetti behind me. Can't see how this is a one man job, but people do it. By the end I could have handled the glue but the rope would have been a challenge.

The last turn is held tight in place by a sash clamp:

One down three to go. I've said it before, I'll say it again. Next month - binding.

All this tying things up with lots of rope. Is there something you want to tell us, Adrian? ;)
