The thing i'm pleased about is that they all sound good, even though the finishes are amateurish. I'm very happy to record with them.
I have three more in the works - an electro (solid) with a bridge piezo which I used quite a lot, but needs a pick up replacement and a few tweaks ; a double cutaway solid and a Strat shaped slab bodied solid, which are delayed while I make my mind up about what pickups to fit.
There are also a few "bitsas" and a couple of epic fails which we don't talk about ! Mind you, even those sound fine.

The kits normally take 5 days or so to reach the UK, then take 7-8 days for customs clearance. The tracking will at that point say 'delivery attempted', which basically means the PO now has it and has sent out a note saying that VAT and duty + PO handling charge need paying. You can either go to the sorting office, pay there and take the kit away with you, or pay it via the web, and they'll deliver it on a day of your choosing (normally minimum 2 days later) so you can arrange for someone to be in to accept it, as it needs a signature.

OT - Reading this thread makes me wonder if there are enough people to make it worth trying to organise an 'SOS wannabe luthier' meetup. Of course it'll have to wait until I've got my first one finished, but that's OK it'll probably take a year to find a mutually convenient date......... :beamup:

I do love a P90 neck pickup, but in this case my aim was to get as much useful tonal variation without making the controls too complex. My all-time favourite pickup is actually a Telecaster bridge pickup, so for me that was a no brainer. The one I used is a DiMarzio Twang King. In the neck I used a Di Marzio PAF Pro wired in parallel for a sweet sound with a push pull pot to convert it to serial mode (the DiMarzio "dual sound" option).
I also used a four way switch which gave me an extra option of putting the neck and bridge pickups in series. The end result gives me a reasonably wide tonal palette.
Incidentally, the body is made from part of a very old mahogany bar top with a Tasmanian Blackwood top.

I've never ordered from Australia, but I have bought tools from Stewmac in the USA and the carrier prepared an invoice for the duty amount, which I had to pay when the goods were delivered.

Parcelfarce normally drop a card through the door saying you owe customs fees and a link for online payment. Usually gets delivered within a day or two once you pay.
