Oh dear, this one has 29 frets AND 7 strings. So if you string it with an extra high A string, then this would go to high D!

Afraid that we can't see Musicians Friends web pages any more in the EU due to our data protection laws and MF presumably being a bit free and easy with your data , so can you find a picture from another site?

This guitar has just 24 frets:

Not sure how you'd fit more frets on to the instrument...

Sorry for the awkward image post, I couldn't think of a better/easier way to post it.

That's great! I wish I could find one to try. Nobody has these. It is hard to just blindly get a guitar that you can't try.

I tried some 7 string guitars and restrung them to have an extra high string.

I just can't get used to that wide neck. It seems to mess up my technique. I would have to relearn so much of the fundamentals. Normal arpeggios are difficult on the wide neck because it feels like my hand and fingers are just in a different (wrong) place than I am used to.

I didn't expect the wide neck to be such a problem for me, but I really don't think I can do that.

I think I need to find a 6 string that goes to 29 instead. But nobody has them on the rack that I can find.

Looks like a custom build is your only option then (though I'm sure I remember a guitar with a 36 fret neck back in the day).

Another Washburn, the EC36.

I tried one when they were new. The frets on most of the upper octave were so close together that you couldn't fret properly at all. Only real benefit was better access to the 24th fret and the first couple of frets above that.

I had the frets on the fingerboard extension of my F style mandolin removed because the got in the way when playing rhythm and they were pretty much unplayable anyway (especially by me :headbang: ).

I've never liked a solo violin, you need at least five for a proper fire.
