Possibly, though Clapton was upfront in saying Blackie was basically done and couldn't take another refret so save keeping it for prosperity it wouldnt be used much, if all, again.

I though The Black Strat had more life remaining as he'd swapped necks but perhaps the last 2/3 tours since he brought it back for Live8 have worn that too.

Or as Wonks points out, He was happier with a copy after all (bit like Andy Summers was with his Tele).

I guess in both cases they were just looking for the maximum return for their respective charities.

If you aren't going to gig, write or record any more, then you might as well move them on. I'm sure to DG they are mainly just tools. Well loved tools maybe, but he knows that the real magic is in his head and fingers, not the guitars.

"Look, dear, you said I couldn't buy any more guitars unless I got rid of some, so..."

I've only just started reading this thread, as I didn't really think I needed to fret about David Gilmour's guitar action :headbang:

If you did nothing about it, then surely that's David Gilmour's guitar inaction?

We need to scale this back or pickup the original string of the conversation.
Otherwise we're just picking at it.
