I have one of these and love it: http://www.epiphone.com/Products/Archto ... gster.aspx

This is a highly underrated guitar.

Wonderful. Great tone. Very versatile. Resonates and feels great to play. Pickups are outstanding.

Lucky me. I have an ES295-alike on its way to me, which is one of the two possibles I was hoping for. Stupid cheap p
rice but with a guaranteed return policy if I cant get on with it. More when NGD arrives...

An ES295 is a lovely tool. Hopefully the 'alike' will deliver the goods :)

Presumably you didn't pay extra for next day delivery, or is this some private eBay purchase?

Looks like I got conned - disappearing chinese firm fronted in the UK. Fortunately I paid with a credit card so come Monday I should be back in business STILL looking.

I still haven`t found an ES295 alike that I can afford but still rather fancy the Peerless version.

None of you chaps looking to move a deep-ish hollow body guitar on?

Possibly a bit too Jazzy, and would probably need different pickups fitting but but Andertons are currently doing these at an end of run price. So overall probably too costly. But have a look anyway. It comes with a hard case.

Or this on reverb. Got humbucker sized P90s fitted by the look of it, not the stated humbuckers. https://reverb.com/item/18776021-peerless-tonemaster-orange-high-gloss

Funnily enough I already made the Peerless owner an offer... Refused. Maybe I should "get Da Boyz tageddah" an make him an offer he CANT refuse.....

Hofner looks rather cutely jazzy but I would be ashamed of myself if I ripped the electrics out & stuck a pair of Lollar P90s on it... P.S> Wonks - I am lighter by one guitar but somewhat heavier in pocket. Sorry.

At least you can afford to spend a bit on the big Gretsch style. Was your Peerless offer significantly less than the asking price?

Meanwhile I'll just go off and sob quietly in the corner....

Just missed a rather nice G5129.... I have to get back into the "buying stuff" mindset. Its been a while.

Now have people telling me Cort make some nice hollow bodies but I cant find any new or used.

Anyone tried a Peavey Rockingham?

The Rockingham is Darryl Higham's signature model, pretty much nuff said.

How about this Gretsch style? Doesn't seem to come in another colour unfortunately, but it's in stock, so you shoud get it before any Brexit complications if you are quick.

J&D guitars seem to get a good write-up. Pabs has the mini hollow LP one and thinks it's great, and Ronnie's just got a Tele style one for playing in Spain.

Worth a thought, and you can always slap a coat of emulsion on if you don't like the green. ;)

The pickups on that J&D appear to be standard humbuckers, albeit with a Gretsch-style cover. So you'd probably want to swap those out.

Been keeping it under my hat in case it all went wrong but I appear to have stumbled on a Gretsch G5120 that I can afford! Hopefully picking it up over the next few days so I can use it at our next fgig at the Flying Pig in Cambridge! Yay!! And of course thanks for all the help and advice chaps. I do now have a huge list of hollow body options if anyone else needs help...

Oops, quite right Wonks. Yes he has but he's always been up front in saying he would as he could afford it. The Peavey was his "best at a price we can afford presuming you're not Brian Setzer" and it does that brilliantly.
