Obviously a beautiful job Wonks, but I just can’t love that colour. Maybe I’ll change when I see it in the flesh, but I just can’t help imagining it in wine red or racing green. Ah well..

:D

It was always my intention to give it a light relicing, but I can't bear to do it at the moment; so it may stay pristine until it gets some natural wear or knocks.

Quite right too. I've no time for this old-fangled relicing !

My '61 replica is a pretty heavy relic and it's nice not have to worry from day one about adding some damage but I'd agree with you that, after all that work, you should enjoy a pristine instrument for a while at least.

To me relicing is insincere and looks it. Even the best custom shop relics lack something that a genuine relic emanates. You wouldn't do it to a new car, why do it to a truly gorgeous guitar?

For many years I lusted after a blue guitar. Long story short I eventually ended up with a blue guitar with bonus features like awesome feeling neck, locking tuners, very good active p/ups, gold hardware, but this was all secondary to the fact that it was blue. It’s irrational but even looking at it makes me happy!

I'm fairly certain I played this guitar this afternoon when I popped round to say hi and drop off my son's 'The SG' and a host of new parts for its makeover, but the afternoon was such a blur of guitars that were simultaneously gorgeous, gorgeously set up and beautifully finished that its possible it might have been another blue Strat, or even a different colour entirely! :bouncy:

(had I known it was the subject of a post I'd have taken notes ...)

The colour has the perfect 60s vibe - sorry Dave, on this one I'll have to disagree - and the guitar resonates against your body in that way that says 'I'm an instrument, not a plank of wood with some metal bolted to it'. So well worth the continued effort.

Well done, Wonks! Treat yourself to a workshop - you deserve it!

p.s. If you ever decide that the Jimmy Page LP is no longer you, you know who to call ... ;-)

Yes, that was the one.
