Danelectro Big Spender.

I want a rotary effect pedal, I've heard a few, but the one I I liked the most was the Danelectro Big Spender. It sounded deep, and very realistic to me. But, it's not got good reviews, and I've read people look down on it for some reason.
I've heard the Strymon, and it didn't sound as good as the Danelectro to my ears, it sounds very dark and just a bit too dirty.
I'm sold on the Danelectro, it just sounds good to me, but as usual, before buying it I'd like some other opinions, just in case I need to try a few more.

Never heard it, I'm afraid. Far too many pedals out there and far too little time.

I would suggest the Boss RT-20, I have one and like it a lot. Although mode 4 has never worked so well for me. Definitely versatile, not the most authentic Leslie sound but very tweakable.

But if you like it, Arpy, then get it. You'll never be happy otherwise. Danelectro pedals aren't expensive.

I too have an RT-20, and it makes a nice sound. But whether it makes the sound you like is going to be up for your ears to decide.

All my Hammond-loving friends seem to go for the Neo Ventilator 2, and it does sound extremely good to my ears. Also very adjustable.

Except that the Neo Ventilator and the Strymon cost real money, like £350 and £300 or thereabouts - and they do sound very 'electronic' - the Danelectro is about £60 and actually does sound a bit more like a Leslie - I have a Leslie 145, so I might be biased against a more edgy sound.

Haven't heard a Danelectro so can't comment. I have heard the Neo Vents (both the 2 and the mini) and was very impressed with how close they got to sounding like my own Leslie 122R, particularly in the way the bass and treble changed speed in the right way.

Which ever pedal you decide to go for, it will be a fraction of the price of a real Leslie Rotary Speaker cab.

The Dano pedal is of course just mono, which is probably of benefit to Arpy, who is generally keen on simple mono effects.

Thanks folks. I've decided to get the Danelectro, I have listened to others, but I can't help thinking that this one is the best to my ears, also, I'm not comparing it to a real Leslie, but it just sounds natural and not too digital to me, all the others sounded synthetic.
I'm going to use it for synth sounds anyway, not with an organ.
I'd spend the extra if needed, but it doesn't seem necessary.
