Most of the items are covered in this months Guitarist.

Nothing really that special as they are almost all 1990's-2000's items. But the lots' guide prices are very low, as seems to be the way with auctions these days.

And Francis Rossi's getting in on the fun as well...

No doubt a number of chord-based jokes will (re-)surface...

What a mad world - a 1957 Tele would go for what £20k? An ex status quo one expected to get over £100k? Nuts.

Well, given the rarity of ex-Status Quo guitars with any real usage history behind them, it's bound to go for a reasonable sum. Of course the estimated price may well drop and go down, down, deeper and down.

I understand what you're proposing but I'm sure that Rossi's is just a 57 body with pretty much everything else having been changed at sometime or another. It's also been re-finished in Ronseal. Still, if somebody wants to donate it to me then I ain't complaining.

What you're proposing is rather on the wild side of life.

You realise if you did get it it would self combust when you played the fourth chord on it.......

Apparently Gary Moore's red ones have been sold, however...

... they've still got the blues

I could be wrong, but I *think* this is the third auction of his gear.
Maybe just what's left ?

Gardiner Houlgate's guitar auctions are superb. But its not just guitars - they have pro audio there as well....We were recently treated to Roland Ollazabal's studio stuff, including his PPG wave 2.2 and his EMAX.

I've bought loads of stuff from there - its 20 mins down the road from me.

I noticed a couple of Gary's keyboards are included, like this Polysix. (As Wonks indicated, the estimates are disingenuously low.)

I think "disingenuous" is pretty strong....

But I will concede that the Polysix looks like a pretty cheap estimate - they may not know what it is...

You need to bear in mind that you pay a buyers premium of 24% on top so estimates can on the surface appear low but once you factor this is in pricing is a little more in line with what you'd expect, but I've had some astonishingly good buys from this place.

an unused Beyerdynamic M88 for £45 rrp £240, estimated £40-60
A custom shop Yamaha BB2024x for £800 rrp over 2K estimated £800-1200
SWR Super Redhead for £210 (find one for under £500 used!) estimated £250-350

Even then, there's no accounting for what can happen if you get 2 parties interested.
I've seen a box of ordinary strat parts go for over £500 when estimated quite rightly @ £150-200, rough JV squiers estimated @ £400 go for over £600 to online bidders who probably didn't even play it (because I did and it was a dog!)

Its swings and roundabouts, fashions and internet hype that's driving a lot of the prices up, and an almost impossible task for the auction house to get every estimation to meet everyone's expectations...

I've heard that some of his guitars are in very poor condition:
allegedly, he left them out in the fields...

Gibson could run their digger over them (Like they did with the Firebird X's), turn them into rubble, and export them to France. Where they would become..........

Parisianne Walkways ...........

I thank you :bouncy: :headbang:

Reserve prices matter for obvious reasons but are estimated prices of any importance at all!

They should be if the integrity of the auction house means anything. At least they should match typical used values from sites like Reverb as the lowest estimated value, and not try to indicate that you'll get both a bargain and a piece of Gary Moore's kit if you put in a bid at the top of the guide price.
