I sold my GP8 after I got the Line6 Helix. In fact I sold all my bass and guitar effects, amps and cabs and replaced them with the Helix and an RCF745 powered speaker for monitoring purposes.

For live use the programmability and interfacing with other MIDI gear completely outweighs any supposed inferiority of the digital modelled sound.

In the studio I'll use whatever sounds right, although having said that for the last session I recorded the Bass VI both with effects direct from the Helix and dry so that I could use what they had in studio. In the end apart from additional EQ to suit the mix, it ended up being far simpler to use the sounds from the Helix rather than attempt to better them with the studio's hardware and software effects.

New Gp8 purchaser, here. Last video I watched was someone who used ts midi app to get an iPad to control Gp8 parameters. special code had to written for Roland. Maybe presets could work on iPad as well. Could be support for other midi compatible units.
