Mod Dwarf

Postby BJG145 » Tue Feb 25, 2020 6:50 pm

Following the Mod Duo...I just came across this Kickstarter campaign for the Mod Dwarf.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/18 ... od%20dwarf

(Not sure how the tech specs compare, but at £215 it's quite a bit less than the original. I've experimented with the Modep emulator, but although a guitar FX box based on a Raspberry Pi is fun to mess around with, I haven't found it reliable enough to take on stage.)

I like the look of that but, they look like achieving their total soon so I'll probably hold off for a while. I'm trying to sell stuff not buy more :headbang:

I'm trying to do both. ;)

(There's an exceptional auction of Northumbrian smallpipes coming up. It would be crazy for me to bid on one of those without shifting some gear first. Totally reckless. *sigh*)

Wow - the MOD Dwarf is priced hugely cheaper than the Duo! :o

Buying one would be much more a split second decision than a long weighing up process ;)

My thoughts exactly, plus it is much cheaper that the mainstream opposition like the Helix FX and Headrush Gigboard. Just not sure I want to commit to something that won't be available for 10 months+.....

FWIW they have a pretty good track record for delivering on time.

Too reckless even for me...

This morning there was a live auction including a collection of instruments from the estate of Colin Ross, a renowned maker of Northumbrian smallpipes who passed away last year. I had it playing in the office at work.

Back in 2018 I commissioned a 14-key set in G with some slightly left-field note choices. He grumbled about it and said it was the last G set he'd ever make because they were so fiddly, but eventually agreed. Unfortunately he passed away before the sale was completed.

It was included in the auction. I put in a hopeful bid, but it went for over £2K inc. which was out of my league. So I give the new owner my blessing. And I hope they curse over that awkward Bb I added. ;)
