Andy, mate, if you build an electric hurdy-gurdy I just might have to buy one. So for god's sake don't! my exchequeur is already teetering on the edge of insolvency ;-) that said, it could be the sort of quirky campaign on GoFundMe that could get covered on the BBC news on a slow night and the next thing you know you'll be flying on private jets delivering blinged-out electric h-g's to the guitar gods of tomorrow.

btw, i agree with everyone (except huge) about the seductive quality of the hurdy-gurdy sound. it's the combination of the drone sounds plus the beautiful resonance of all the strings in sympathy. on a serious note, i would love to hear what a really great North African band like Tinariwan would do jamming with a good hurdy-gurdy player. now *that* would be cool.

cheers all,

d

Earlier this year I was pleased to acquire a DigiGurdy prototype, along with Nigel Eaton. Here's a quick demo.

I'd be happy to do a Hermann Seib and join the beta testing program. (But I'm not a future guitar god, and I don't provide air travel expenses.)

Actually I don't mind them at all. My comment was entirely manufactured so I could do a terrible joke!
