Fishman Fluence SSS Wiring

Postby buzingha » Sun Sep 13, 2020 11:01 pm

Hello, I am new to forum. I'm looking for the guitar wiring guru. I purchased a loaded Fluence SSS pickup set and installed into my Strat. There are 2 push/pull pots that I literally need both hands to pull up.

I want to remove everything and put into a new pickguard with some added features. I started ordering switched and pots, started researching, and came to the conclusion that I better consult a guru before I jack this up.

I made a digram of what I would like it to look like. I'll see if I can figure out how to add it to my post. With the Fluence set, there are 2 voices and High Frequency Tilt for each pickup. I access the voices via the push/pull volume pot and the HFT via the push/pull tone pot.

I want to eliminate the push/pulls. Ideally, I would love to put each of them on their own S-1 switch, but I got lost in the research and don't if parts are compatible or if I could make them compatible somehow. Also, I want eliminate the second tone pot and have 1 volume/1tone.

Is there anyone who could help me put together a parts list and nail down a wiring schematic?

Hello, ello, ello... Is there anybody out there? Just nod if you can hear me.

Hmmm... not seeing where to upload PDF of idea. Ill try and figure it out.

Welcome to the forum :)

The Sound On Sound forums do not provide direct uploading of images. To include an image in your post you need to upload it somewhere else (imgur.com is a popular choice) and then insert a direct link to the location of the image into your post using 'img' tags as shown below.

Using "http://my-image-here.something/pic.jpg" as an example, you would insert it into your post as follows:

Code: Select all
This is the text of a post and below is an image displayed inline within the post:

Without waiting to see your pdf, I can assure you that the S1 pot/switches will be a perfect replacement for the Push/Pull pots.

You will need to source a replacement pick guard drilled for one volume and one tone to do exactly what you describe. But don't forget that cheating is allowed, there's nothing stopping you from using a one volume and two tone pick guard and just leaving a dummy pot and knob in the 2nd tone position.

Well, the Fluence pickups need 25k pots and I was not able to find any s-1 switches or split shaft switches at that range.

P.S.
I got the pickguard
If I can't find s-1 switches, I can use the left over knob hole for one of the two toggle/button's

Sorry, I forgot that the fluency pick-ups needed 25k pots. That does mean that the Fender S1 pots aren't an option. So it really is sticking with the 25k push/pull Fishman pots.

Good effort in using your diagram as a profile pic. But it didn't work how you hoped, profile pics are scaled and can't be viewed full size. The only option for posting images here is to upload them to a 3rd party hosting site and use the tools they offer for links.

Here's a link to my idea.

I've downloaded your PDF image and remade it for the forum -- HR
SSS Wiring.jpg

3 ACTIVE single coils
1 toggle/button to switch between each of the 2 voices on each pickup
1 toggle/button to turn on/off HFT on each pickup
1 standard 25k volume pot
1 standard 25k tone pot
6way selector switch [ 1 / 1,2 / 2 / 2,3 / 3,1 / 3 ]
OR could use a
5way [ 1 / 1,2 / 2 / 2,3 / 3 ]

Strats have 3 knobs
Can use the empty pot hole for one of the toggle/buttons
Or I can drill 2 holes for toggle/buttons
and use empty hole for a sweet LED accent light or a USB to charge my phone :)

Apparently, links to a .jpg in my google drive won't work either...
Anyhoo, I'll figure it out tomorrow.

Thanks for responses

Dropbox and, I think, Google drive don't allow direct links without some faffing. I use 'imgur.com' which is excellent for such stuff.

I think the description I gave in previous post about idea is pretty good. Right? We don't really need the drawing I made. The parts are all listed.

I just need help with 2 things:

1. Of the parts listed, are there any special requirements that each need to have to function properly? I know the volume and tone pots need to be 25k, but do the selector or toggle/button need to have any special properties?

2. The wiring schematic

If I don't hear from anyone, I will still be moving forward with parts and material acquisition. Then, if I still don't hear from anyone, I will put my soldering iron on some things and hope it ends up right.

Thanks in advance to anyone who has the time help.

Ok... what if we come at this at a different angle?

Is it possible to reduce an S-1 pot to 25k?

If so, can it be done in a way that won't mess up the sweep from 0 - 10?

If I am in the wrong place or there is a better place to post this puzzle, please let me know.

Thanks
