There's news of that on their website.
Not a good sign.

I have a guitarist friend whom they disappointed before the covid catastrophe hit.

He wanted something they could could have easily made but wouldn't--an SS-15 with a solid center block. Just put the jazz archtop's top on the semi-solid's body--they're the identical size and shape--add five hundred bucks for the customization--and you've made a customer happy, not to mention a potentially successful new model.

I get the impression, though, that archtops are the red headed stepchild of their operation. Too bad. They were well positioned in the laminated archtop market--less than half the price of carved Benedettos and the like while still having some of that premium vibe.

Gibson recently abandoned the carved archtop business, I notice. No more Wes Montgomery Model L5s, I guess.
