Hip to be square? Cigar box guitars
I'm looking for a new image for 2021. Anyone willing to stick their hand up to playing one of these?

I'm pretty sure that No Diddley's guitar in the picture was built for him by Guild or Gretch, and not from a cigar box.
There is however a good documentary on iPlayer about making cigar box guitars. I can't remember the guy's name, but he was always at the North West guitar shows.
Regards, Simon.

I posted a link to it in the 'things I could watch all day' thread in the lounge.

If the EU want more fish, I'm sure Boris would willingly let them have Sturgeon.

I assume "No Diddley" is a tribute act to someone other than "Bo Diddley"?

Doh! Fecking auto correct.
No Diddley is a tribute act that plays none of Bo Bo Diddley's songs.

Perhaps he is a BoJo Diddley tribute?

There is also a rival to the No Diddley tribute act called Diddley Squat.
And let's not forget the great ape tribute act, Bonobo Diddley.

And here's Bo with the Duchess.

And here's a later photo showing his original rythym guitarist Lady Bo, clearly another convert to more original guitar design.

I presume they get up on stage and play nothing at all (no, not the Ronan Keating song...)

If the neck feels good I’d love to have one.
But I’ve always wondered - some of those guitar boxes are huge, meaning huge cigars. So are they a form of compensation for the less endowed the way owning a corvette car is?
(Where’s the darn zucchini emoji when you need it?)

I think the cigars go crosswise not lengthwise...

Re: Hip to be square? Cigar box guitars
There's absolutely no shame in playing a cigarbox guitar - I think they've got a real vibe, especially for Missisippi blues.
Have a listen to this one:
Justin Johnson (Rooster Blues) 7-15-12 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lOUlgYCX_Uw
Superb playing, and I think this is the most beautiful cigarbox instrument I've seen to date
