JVM410H or Savage - it's dilemma

Postby dualtubE » Sun Apr 25, 2021 5:46 pm

I’m a pretty big fan of the sound and the way the Primal Fear band plays, and I’ve been trying to figure out which amps and pedals are in play for a while now. I regularly see Marshall JVM410H at concerts, and I read somewhere that they often use Engl Savage amplifiers (maybe Marshall and Engl E530 preamp). Since the Mesa Recto is beyond my means, then purchasing either the JVM410H or Savage seems like a reasonable option. I am confused by the existence of the 60W and 120W models, with a difference of a few hundred dollars, so I wonder if there are sound differences between them in addition to power.
I wish I didn’t have to buy an original Engl cabinet but some alternative to set aside the extra money for some attenuator. Has anyone tried both amps or has advice on getting PF sound? Thank you.
