foot controller/expression pedal/cv pedal

Postby musicstephen » Thu Jan 07, 2010 4:23 pm

Hi all,

I play keyboards and am looking to add an expression pedal to my setup. I would ideally like to have just a pedal, without all the extra buttons that you can get on some boards. I believe I have about 3 options:

1. I have a fatar studiologic-2001 keyboard, which has 2 CV (Control voltage)inputs on it. Does anyone know of a pedal that I could connect up to the CV inputs?

Would this work for me, sorry for mentioning this in advance:

2. I could use an expression pedal hooked up to one of these, but this is a bit too expensive.

3. My prefered route would be to have a pedal that would output midi data directly, so that I would hook this up to my midi in my imac. Or a pedal that would output to USB, so that I also hook up to my imac.

I believe this would work, but also a bit pricey just for my use as an expression pedal:

Are there any options out there that I have missed? Let me know if you need anymore info about my setup. I do not have anything that accepts an expression pedal as an input.

Thanks for your help,
Steve

I have one of those behringer pedals, bought in a hurry when I needed something that could operate as an old-fashioned audio volume pedal.

Recently tried setting it to CV mode, connected to the volume/expression pedal input on my Fatar/Studiologic SL-880. It sort of worked, but only generated midi controller values from 0-15 (or maybe 0-31, I forget). Which made it pretty useless.

I can see no relevant settings on either the keyboard or pedal :frown:

Hello,

You can also use this:
http://www.doepfer.de/we.htm

It's only 40 euros, but requires some DIY work (read the downloadable PDF for further information).

They also make a 75-euro version with 16 analogue inputs:

Best regards

Thanks Chris, I was hoping to get a litle more expression from an expression pedal!

Thanks Bob, I may have to look into this if nothing else comes up.

Cheers

I had this problem with my Yamaha control pedal - it just needed a different wiring configuration that I sussed with a couple of crododile clips before soldering up an adaptor cable.

My Yammy pedals are built like tanks - glad I chose them, but it was long ago.
