Akai MPK / Novation SL MkII / Touch Sensitivity

Postby Rave On » Sat Jan 09, 2010 4:24 am

Hello,

Sorry if this is a bit basic, but I haven't had my hands on any keyboard controller yet. I am deciding between the Novation SL MkII and the Akai MPK. Both seem great.

The MPK seems to have great pads and would save the expense of buying a dedicated tool like the Korg PadKONTROL for programming drums.

The SL has touch sensitivity but not-so-great pads for drums.

My question: What is the advantage of touch sensitivity on the SL controls? It just isn't clear to me what happens when you touch a control and what convenience is provided. What would I be missing if I went for the Akai?

Thanks and regards
