Gear Heads Unite!

Postby Dave B » Tue Apr 04, 2017 12:42 pm

Save the date in your diaries : 7th October 2017. Synthfest 2017 has just been confirmed. (*)

Last year's one was a blast and most enjoyable, so this year's should be even better. It was brilliantly laid out, fantastically run and a great chance for some of us to get together for a natter and a drink (much easier to get to than a SOSauge Meet).

Fantastic!

(*) Ignore any Elfen folk who are temporally challenged and seem to think it's mid-week .. it really is on a Saturday

Oh and in other news, our very own Chevvytraveller is organising a modmeet / live event on June the 11th in sunny Hastings. This should also be a blast and should also be in diaries.

Will Synthfest be at the same venue (Sheffield Octagon), or is that not decided yet?

Zen - many thanks. You're a star as always.

Bill, according to the official website - http://synthfest.co.uk/ - yes, it will be at the Octagon again. Last year, both the organisers and exhibitors were exceedingly complimentary about the venue and its staff. I have to agree there.

Plus, The Elf told us about this truly stunning curry house nearby, so any attempt to move it further away would be met by howls of indignation :D

Excellent - I missed it last year due to domestic issues (house, not wife!) but it is in the calendar now.

BUMP. Just a quick note to say that Synthesea in June will have some nice goodies / swag (having seen pics). Speaking to Chevvy recently, it sounds like it's shaping up to be a quality event rather than just a simple mod meet.

Just saying ... ;)

Hi all

Looking forward to another Synthfest this year.. Last year was superb fun!..
Also, one of the best curries I've ever had!

As Dave already said, I'm having a little event of my own down on the coast in a few weeks.. we still have a few tables available for anyone wanting to come and show off their gear(also gets you free entry)..

Message me either on here or on the Synthesea FB Page

Yes, it's all happening again - this time even better!

And I'm helping to organise it again - a very real privelege. :D

The Octagon is a great venue, and I'm glad my suggestion for a curry went down so well. This time I'm hoping I will be able to partake too!

I'm sworn to secrecy about a few very exciting developments, but as soon as I can spill the beans I will. I'm going to be broke by the time it's over...

So .. given that it's Synthesea this Sunday, anyone else going?

BobTheDog is going to be there with some tasty kit and I'll be around (a little later than hoped, but still there). Anyone else going?

I'll also mention that these kinds of 'mod meet' are always fascinating as people show off their systems. And the bands in the evening should round off a very good day.

Would have liked to - enjoyed last years - but 'stuff' just got in the way :(

To add to the exciting lineup of bands and synth toys on display, Analogue Solutions will also be unveiling their brand new Synth:

Just wanted to say a big thank you to our own Chevvytraveller for organising Synthesea. It was a great meet, in a brilliant venue and a good time was had by all. The bands in the evening were diverse and the sound was fantastic - which can be hard for synth acts. Fantastic effort all round!

Thanks so much for coming down guys..

Was a very hectic day for me but seemed to make everyone happy so gonna count that as a big success..

Big Thanks to everyone that helped and contributed

Special thanks to Tom from Analogue Solutions, Allan from AJH Synth, John from Dubreq and of course the inimitable man of wood, Ross Lamond.

Ultra Special thanks to all who performed.. Nick Batt, Chris & Brie(Battery Operated Orchestra), Pat & Robin(Native Ray) and of course the mighty Vile Electrodes Jane and Martin..

Must also mention the enormous contribution made by people behind the scenes who made the impossible, possible..
Lorna at the Printworks,
Darren Morris our fantastic soundman, Chris Carvalho and Steve Wilkins for their help organising and managing on the day and to Martin's amazing DV8 students
