In rough historical order:

Woolworths 2-octave organ
Practical Electronics Joanna electronic piano kit
ETI Powertran Transcendent 2000 mono synth kit

Boss DR55 Dr Rhythm
* Sequential Pro-One
Roland TR808

* Dubreq Stylophone

Yamaha DX7
* Yamaha FB01 module
* Hohner HS2E module (VZ10M clone)
* Kawai K1 synth
* Ensoniq VFX-SD synth
* Fatar 88-note master controller
Akai S612 Sampler
Emu Emax sampling keyboard
* Emu Proteus 2000
* Yamaha TG300 module

* Novation Remote SL25 controller keyboard

Items marked with * are still owned.

I used to take review synths/drum machines/samplers home on a Friday night and return Monday morning, back in the E&MM/early SOS days, so I got to check out lots of kit back then.

My humble history. Not in order of purchase. Most are still in my possession!

Cheetah mk5v
Arturia MiniLab
Casiotone 101
Roland SC880 module
Mason & Hamlin foot-powered mini harmonium reed organ thingy
Roland TR505 drum machine
Soundmaster SR88 drum machine
Alesis SR16 drum machine
Yamaha EMT piano module
Orla DSE9 module (had to look this one up, think this was it!)

There was a Boss Dr Rhythm drum machine in there somewhere, too, but can't remember the model.

I was feeling the same, but I'm going to do it anyway!

Casio SK5
Yamaha DD19
Casio HZ600
Yamaha FB01
Yamaha SY22
Korg Delta
Casio CZ230s
Roland S330
Yamaha RX17

then a bit of a hiatus, where various bits got sold on and I gradually went software,

Korg Volca Keys
Korg Volca Bass
Korg Volca Drums
Waldorf Rocket
Waldorf Streichfett
Roland Boutique JP08
Roland Boutique JX03
Roland Boutique JU06
Waldorf Blofeld

Currently I've slimmed it back to

Studiologic Sledge
Behringer DeepMind 6
Korg Arp Odyssey module
Roland TR8
Roland TD1KV

Actually that's longer than I was expecting!

I have one of those in the garage, I didn't think it would count in this list. :)

Of course it is. It was reviewed in SOS in Sept '98, which was why I bought one.

I must confess I have always considered it to be a toy rather than something worthy of an SOS review. :oops:
I may have to fish it out and have a proper look at it at the weekend :)

Ha!

I've dragged mine around everywhere with me. Feather-light to carry, uncomplicated to use, with MIDI and built-in speakers - in many contexts that's all I need.

Now feel slightly less embarassed about having owned a DJX as my first (almost) synth :tongue:
Learned a lot about sequencing and how to do a really bad job of sampling with that plus a Yamaha SU10 that I was occasionally allowed to borrow from the school music department.
The rest of the gear I've owned amounts to a shorter list than sporadic additions of things many of you have forgotten though:
DJX
Yamaha CS1x
Roland JX305
Korg DSS1
Korg Trinity
Yamaha EX7
Custom organ thing (as yet unfinished...)
XoX-based 303 clone

Still, this thread does a nice job of validating the legitimacy of that next GAS purchase :lol:

I missed my Etherwave Theremin off my list (and it's Moog-branded gig bag). I still own it, but at present it's a bit poorly. It hasn't been quite right since a large Psychobilly fell on it at a Terrortones gig in Newcastle.

Oh yeah...

And a yamaha qy20.

All of which makes me realise that if I spent more time practicing and less time shopping, I would sound a lot better and be a lot richer.

Started out in ‘92 with a Roland JD800 and an Ensoniq ASR10
Added a Jupiter 6, Tr808, Cz101, ARP Odyssey (II) - All sold to move countries (Damn!)
Now (acquired since 2012)
Roland JX8p/PG800, VP9000, Boss DR110
Kawai K5000s, MP8, K1m, XD-5, with MM16 programmer
Casio CZ101, VZ10-M, Yamaha TQ5
Korg Prophecy, ER1 II
Waldorf MicroQ, Technics WSA1R
EMU MP-7 Command Station (with the Siedlaczek Orchestra card added)

I like hands-on stuff and the items in my current studio (along with a collecton of hardware FX) individually cost me much the same as a main stream plugin. In spite of the macramé tangle of cables and fading screens I love them all, though the babies like the TQ5, CZ, DR, and the K1M have a special place in my heart.
