Sequential Prophet 2000/2002 - Sound Designer

Postby fatbenelton » Wed Dec 13, 2017 1:40 pm

Hi folks
Bit of a long shot but got a Prophet 2002 Plus coming from the VEMIA auction and trying to get a copy of Digidesign Sound Designer for Prophet 2000 (SD2000)...

I was told to try the Yahoo group but my membership has been pending for weeks and there has been no new activity since January, so suspect it's Kaput......

Any pointers? Got the ancient Mac and midi interface ready and raring to go!

I don't have Sound Designer for P2000 specifically but have a bunch of other OS9 audio apps that probably support it like Passport Alchemy for example

Cheers - I think the beauty of SD2000 for Prophet is full remote of front panel. Thanks anyway.

For those looking on a search in the future I did find this...not tried it yet.

Did you ever get into Prophet 2012?

Like yourself I've been unable to join the Yahoo group which is actually a recurring theme for me, trying to join defunct Yahoo groups for defunct bits of gear haha.

Still carrying on with the Prophet though. Just a bit of a shame to not be able to access all that info in there. I've been trying to set up my Behringer BCR2000 with the Prophet alas with no joy. I think the sysex uses too many bits. or bytes. or, well let's just say that stuff is beyond me and I was naïvely pinning my hopes on the learn function.

I also tried Bome MIDI Translator which has a record+learn function but I've noticed that the Prophet 2012 editor actually sends out a group of parameters in each section each time you edit just one. For instance if you edited the VCA release envelope it would also resend the attack, decay and sustain parameter values.

Testing stuff and I may just have to limit what I intend to do with the thing at some point. With the time I save I could work a job to pay for the modern day Prophet X version!

Fun stuff either way. Cheers

I used to use the correct Digidesign Prophet editor on a mac se on os7 for years.
its a very buggy piece of software, its not worth using imo.
Your better off with this http://synth.curlsystems.de/Prophet2012 ... t2012.html
and you can run on all latest platforms. Its brilliant.
Just my 10 pence worth.
If you like it tell the developer, he'll be delighted.

Sorry, missed that question.....

I didn’t and ended up selling it shortly afterwards. I did my usual thing and lost interest shortly after buying it! It sounded great and I loved the arp but the nostalgia wore off quickly when the clunkiness of working with old stuff kicked in!!
