Re: the latest Behringer-gate
and here is the finished UB-Xa, looking dammn fine!

Has a single stereo/mono out, filter and vibrato expression pedal inputs, plus sustain, program advance and hold foot switch inputs. MIDI is catered for with the standard in/out/thru plus USB and power is via a standard IEC C13/14 connector.

Re: the latest Behringer-gate
There is something about this (and the OB6), that because they have a fairly small form factor, don't quite feel "right", without the imposing behemoth of a massive frame traditionally associated with the Obies...

(sigh) and I was doing so well controlling my gear lust ....
Interesting : it has 'upper' and 'lower' buttons - this should mean that it has split and layer like an OBXa. I wonder if the midi will follow the split? Could be interesting..
Regardless, it could well be worth is as a gigging keyboard leaving my 'true' Oberheim(s) at home. Not a bad idea.
Any idea of projected price?

No you weren't. Like most of us, it was just waiting for the right moment to rear its ugly head

Re: the latest Behringer-gate
That would look nice next to my OB-6 ...
... I hope it sounds as good as it looks. Optimistic on that front. I'll be keeping a keen eye out for the price too ... I'm hoping it's DeepMind level or cheaper, but we'll see (passed on the DeepMind as I'm not a fan of DeepMenus on an analogue synth)

Re: the latest Behringer-gate
It looks disappointingly like there is only a two-digit display. I know there are a lot of precedents - some old, including the original, and some recent - but even my FB-01 does better than this!
I find any synth with memories, but without a basic display - especially for naming and recall of patches - is really difficult to use.
What was that really great patch that would be ideal for this intro, was it 09 or 27? Or was it patchname "ReallyGreatIntro"?!
Sorry, following tradition has its limits

I agree, I can just about survive with 2 digit display, but hopefully there will be an external editor /librarian so you can at least sort patches into a setlist.
I'm liking how it looks, I have faith it will sound great - if the price is right I'll find space for one

No doubt it will be a great seller for Behringer for all the reasons you suggest. It's just that user-friendliness should be at (or near) the top of the design criteria, for anything, even a 'clone' of a classic.
Don't get me wrong: if somebody turned up at the door with a special delivery from Mr Uli, on account of my insightful (inciteful?) design observations, I wouldn't turn it away on principle!

Re: the latest Behringer-gate
I suspect the red colouring must make it special ?
It would be a bit of an anticlimax if it didn't do something drastic

So that would be the power button, then?

Re: the latest Behringer-gate
Waiting for cassette to load was always 2 pronged excitement!
A - Did the file load properly
B - Did I load the right file or do I have to do it all again?
Didn’t the Emax give you a message that said "go for coffee, hoser"?

Nice to see a real five-octave keyboard and a proper power connection. Wonder why they did that?...
