I love my KingKorg for similar reasons. The VPM is good, but I also like the tuned resonance noise oscillator too, which is very useful for tuned percussion sounds.

Anyway, back to Behringer, I'll have the string synth please.

No post agreeing with me should ever be considered off-topic! :bouncy:

One of the acts I'm working with used a VP-330 extensively back in the day. We're recreating a lot of the old pieces with a view to performing them live, so a VP-ish sound is high on the list - especially the strings (not interested in the vocoder at all, TBH). I did buy a VP-03, and that is OK up to a point, but the VC-340 looks like it truly nails the divide-down technology. This is critically important in the sound of those old string machines, something that Roland themselves failed to recreate, which makes for very odd noises when playing octaves.

So that's my excuse - new toy!

And... Behringer has a new synth, the CRAVE.
Looks to be a monophonic single oscillator semi-modular based on the CEM3340, MOOG ladder filter with a built in sequencer, €149!! .

Terrible demo, but looks like a great little box.

This is quite a good demonstration of what you can do https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FcRAkrkYrKA

Agreed - initial demos can sway an awful lot of people, and this is one of the few that manages to suck you in within seconds

Sounds pretty weak to me. Ok it’s cheap, but there are many softsynths that are way better than this.

Definitely - those patch points should make for super knobbly fun to use with the Model-D and the Mother-32 too - I forsee (forhear?) some rather tasty stacked oscillator sounds and evolving modulation emerging from that little assemblage ;)

I'm liking the sound of this and I love the idea of the 3340 VCO + ladder filter ...

but I'm slightly uncomfortable about how similar it is to another product

But the Crave has an MIDI thru socket as well, and it's (part) yellow. So obviously it can't be another Behringer copy of someone else's product! :shh:

Well I think it's fantastic for the price. I'm itching to try one out!
