Brighton Modular Meet

Postby Dave B » Fri Jun 22, 2018 6:29 am

For those who are interested in modulars (or just cool synths in general) and can get down to the coast, there is the Brighton Modular Meet on next weekend (30th June/1st July). Which is nice.

For anyone who hasn't been, these meets are a lot of fun. Suppliers show their modules, enthusiasts bring kit and there are demos / performances. It's a blast and this one is over a couple of days.

Another good reason to go is that our very own Chevytraveller (Simon) will be doing a demo (MPC X and the AJH modular) at 2pm on Sunday the 1st. It's even free!

I'm now officially tempted to pop along - partly to support Chevvers, and partly because it's fun. If anyone else is interested, shout and we can have a pint / coffee / ethically sourced vegan water and a natter ...

;)

Despite my post count, I know nothing. Think of me as the court jester!

Consider this 12 months' notice for next year... ;)

Home from Brighton! I think I spent about twice as long travelling as I did there, but it was worth it to catch the various things that went 'bleep' and hang out / catch up with the usual suspects ... :)

Annoyingly, due to me misreading the venue, I missed Chevers' performance with Tubedigga - Chevy was processing / playing notes triggered from TD's MPC X. Fortunately, due to a bizarre 'butt-dialing' incident, I may have some of the performance recorded ...

:bouncy:

Also finally got my hands on some nice chap's Deckard's Dream. Sounds good, but I'm not completely convinced. When it was good, it was very, very good. Which probably saved it. It's eminently playable though and as a polysynth really does stand out.

Saw the Moog Grandmother. Looks like it's been styled by Katie Price on a really bad acid trip. Possibly even worse than the current Roland gear - and that's saying something. Apparently it sounds good. Apparently.

Ho Hum...

PS. There may be a caption competition to follow :D
